The problem

Most banners are built to get a yes.

A big green Accept, a small grey link to refuse, and trackers that start before anyone clicks. European regulators have been fining exactly that.

Compliance

Every feature answers a rule.

What the law asks, and what Optwise does about it.

ePrivacy DirectiveArticle 5(3)
No cookies or trackers without consent, except what the site strictly needs.
Holds back statistics, ad pixels and embeds until the visitor says yes, including well-known trackers you forgot to tag.
GDPRArticle 7(1)
You must be able to show that a visitor consented.
Logs every answer with time, policy version and a shortened IP, chained so later changes show.
GDPRArticle 7(3)
Withdrawing must be as easy as giving consent.
A small settings button on every page. Saying no later deletes the tracking cookies at once.
EDPB cookie banner taskforceReport, January 2023
A way to refuse on the first screen, without colours that push people to accept.
Accept and Reject side by side on the first screen, same size, same colour.
CCPA / CPRACalifornia
A “Do Not Sell or Share” choice and respect for Global Privacy Control.
US visitors get an opt-out notice; browsers sending the privacy signal are opted out automatically.
Google EU user consent policyConsent Mode v2
Google tags must receive the visitor’s choice.
Every Google signal starts as denied and follows the visitor’s answer.
Everything included

The parts you’d otherwise build yourself.

Trackers held back

Tag a script once, or let Optwise recognise common trackers for you.

Sealed consent log

Look up any visitor by consent ID, export to CSV, and check nothing was changed.

Rules by country

Opt-in for Europe, opt-out for the US, strictest when unsure. Automatic.

Google Consent Mode v2

Keep measuring within the rules. Signals are set before your Google tags load.

Your look, your words

Colours, position and texts set in the dashboard, with a live preview.

Usable by everyone

Works with keyboard and screen readers, on small phones and in dark mode.

For publishers

Running ads? Your partners get the answer too.

Ad networks in Europe read consent through the IAB framework. Optwise speaks it, so each visitor’s choice reaches the companies you work with.

  • IAB TCF 2.3The framework Google and most ad networks read in Europe.
  • Google Additional ConsentFor Google ad partners that aren’t on the IAB list.
  • Only your partnersPick the companies you use, so visitors see a short, honest list.
  • Included in Pro and BusinessSwitch it on per website in the dashboard.

Made in Belgium. Kept in the EU.

Optwise is built by Hitechies Enterprise Solutions BV. Consent records stay on EU servers, IP addresses are shortened before storage, and a data processing agreement comes with every account.

Questions

Good to know

Does a banner make my site compliant?

It gives you what you need to collect valid consent and prove it. You still need to tag your scripts and keep an accurate cookie policy; the install guide walks you through both.

Will it slow my site down?

The script is about 10 KB compressed. Returning visitors are handled from their saved choice, without waiting for the network.

What if your servers can’t be reached?

The banner still appears with the strictest rules, and optional scripts stay off until the visitor answers.

Does it work with Google Tag Manager?

Yes. Put the Optwise line above the Tag Manager code. Google tags follow Consent Mode by themselves, and a consent event can trigger your other tags.

Where is the data stored?

In the European Union, with IP addresses shortened before storage. See the sub-processors and the data processing agreement.

Can I switch from Cookiebot or another tool?

Yes. Remove the old banner’s script, add the Optwise line, and re-tag the scripts the old tool was blocking. Most sites switch in under an hour.

Ask fairly. Keep the proof.
